Is It Still Worth Paying for Netflix This 2025?

Is It Still Worth Paying for Netflix This 2025?
Dec 20, 2024 Reading time : 4 min

Netflix is still considered one of the biggest streaming platforms in the market even though its competitors are growing by the day. The term Netflix and Chill wouldn’t exist for a reason anyway. Despite the constant price increase, people continue to keep their subscriptions simply because as much as they hate the service, there’s no platform that can compare to Netflix in terms of content library, UI/UX, and price. Its competitors have been upping their game, which means many people have been switching to other platforms.

Now that we are about to wrap up our entire 2024 and enter a new year, we see many people asking if Netflix is still worth subscribing in 2025 or if it’s time to try or go for other streaming services like Hulu or Disney+. Keep on reading to find out!

Should You Keep Your Netflix Subscription in 2025?

As someone who has tried almost every streaming platform in the market, I would say Netflix has its advantages and disadvantages. But for the most part, the decision will still depend on your personal preferences.

For me, I personally enjoy Netflix’s content library even though some would say it only offers mediocre content. Since I am satisfied with the platform, I’d still keep in this coming 2025, although I might re-assess after a few months, depending on the new movies and TV shows they’ll release on the first months of the new year.

We also have to factor in the need for a reliable internet provider when streaming. If you’re trying to limit your data usage, it’s straight up better to let go of your streaming subscription altogether. But what I’ve noticed though is that Netflix doesn’t really consume a lot of data when you’re streaming. Just adjust the resolution, and you’ll be good to go. It’s one of the most data-saving platform I’ve used, no cap. The smartest way would probably be to download movies over WiFi as much as you can.

Here’s How You Can Assess If a Netflix Subscription Is Still for You

I’ve been in your shoes before. To be pretty honest, I’ve got a love-hate relationship with Netflix, especially with the recent price hikes that hurt my wallet. But even though there’s that, I still find myself subscribing to it again after a few months. We have DISH Network at home, and I couldn’t ask for more tbh. But there’s something about Netflix and its content that I keep going back to.

So to help you assess if Netflix is still for you, I’ll be sharing some questions you can ask yourself to help you find out if you’ll keep your subscription or not.

  • Are you okay with the current pricing of Netflix?

Your budget is a big factor for this. If it’s already exceeding your budget, even with the base plan, it might be time for a break. You should look for more affordable platforms. There are a lot in the market. You just need some elbow grease and a little bit of patience.

  • How often do you watch Netflix?

If you’re not watching regularly, it’s not worth it. You can let go of your subscription and re-subscribe once you get more time to watch. You can also subscribe again if you feel like you can make the most out of it.

  • Are you satisfied with Netflix’s current content library?

Netflix’s library is one of its strongest selling points. If you are not happy with it, it might never satisfy you. You need to have a streaming service that you can use and enjoy.

  • Do you have other streaming subscriptions?

If you have other subscriptions and are actually using them more instead of Netflix, you can cancel your Netflix subscription. There’s no point in paying for it when you don’t use it as much.

Wrapping Up

The nice thing about Netflix is if you realize it’s not for you at the moment, you can just cancel it. No need to pay for terminations fees whatsoever. You don’t have to keep it because of a term agreement and waste any money by keeping a subscription you don’t need. We hope this helps!
