Since Netflix has implemented the ban on password sharing, some subscribers have shifted from the platform to other streaming platforms, whereas there are still a lot of users who are still using the services of Netflix and continuing with their subscriptions.

Netflix previously suggested that it might not take any major steps against users to enforce its password-sharing policy, there was no need for concerns regarding potential account blocks or bans. Instead, the users would occasionally get requests for household verifications that provide them with a 15-minute window to complete the required checks for individuals outside their household who were sharing passwords.

Recently, some strict steps have been opted by Netflix for household verification checks and they are intensely going forward with it. The aim of these checks is to further deter password sharing and it looks like the company has adopted a more firm approach. The new approach adopted by Netflix has made it extremely difficult for users to share passwords with their friends and other people who are not from their households.

Over the past months, consistent verification requests have been sent to the users and these notifications would appear on television and other devices. The users get prompted to click the link in the email they receive to verify that the devices they use are from the same household.

The process has functioned smoothly without any significant issues and at times, the verification checks would occur every few weeks while at other times, they would be less frequent. The company has gained millions of new subscribers following the ban on password sharing, suggesting that the number of individuals who are still using the same account from different locations has reduced significantly. The situation has essentially reflected the nature of household definitions.

Another possible explanation for the infrequent checks could relate to the actual usage of the account, it is also conceivable that users were accessing their accounts less often than they had previously.
